Flooding can put your home, possessions and family at risk, even if you live on a hill, in a flat or somewhere that has never flooded before, you can still be affected.

Knowing what to do in a flood could help keep you and your family safe and save you thousands of pounds in damages and disruption.

Here are some simple steps you can do to prepare for flooding:

  1. Check your flood risk at: https://www.gov.uk/check-flood-risk
  2. If your property is at risk, remember this could be your home or business, sign up to receive alerts and warnings
  3. Develop a household emergency plan or business continuity plan and grab bag

Flooding is not the only severe weather than can impact us, the Met Office produce warnings and advice for:

  • Snow and ice
  • Fog
  • Strong winds
  • Thunderstorms and lightening
  • Drought
